With a passion for volunteering, train journeys, and travel, Mark loves seeking out new places and experiences. It was his strong desire to explore that led Mark to become a tour director.
Mark’s international travel experience encompasses journeys through Europe, river cruises in France and Germany, overland safaris in the Middle East and Africa, and extensive independent travel in the USA, Australia, New Zealand & Asia.
For the past 20 years, Mark has worked for The Royal Collection, the largest private art collection in the world. Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is held in trust for the nation by His Majesty King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust.
Prior to his career at the Royal Collection, Mark worked for Selfridges & Co, one of London’s premier department stores on Oxford Street where he managed the Selfridges & Co. Christmas emporium for over 5 years.
Having grown up in Brisbane, Australia, famed for its many attractions, remarkable wildlife and beautiful beaches, Mark set off in 1998 for a 4-month trip to explore the world. After travelling extensively around Europe, Mark settled in London, intending to stay for 4 months.
Over 25 years later and still based in London, Mark is a proud Londoner, enjoying all that the city has to offer. He continues to be energised and inspired by the beauty of the United Kingdom in every corner. With Europe on the doorstep, Mark can often be found exploring the fascinating cultural and historical heritage of the countries on the other side of the English Channel.
Mark supports and works closely with many charitable groups and organizations whose ethos and missions fit his own. He volunteered in Ukraine with GoCamp, the biggest volunteer programme in Eastern Europe, where volunteers from the around the world motivate Ukrainian children to learn foreign languages and to broaden their perspectives through travel.
He also travelled to Sri Lanka to volunteer for the Tea Leaf Trust, a charity providing educational programmes for children and young people on Sri Lankan tea estates, lifting them and their families out of poverty through employment, further education, and training.
Closer to home, Mark participates regularly in English language immersion programmes for foreign students in countries such as Spain, Poland, Germany and Italy.
Mark has acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience from travelling the world for nearly three decades, and he looks forward to sharing that passion with his tour guests.
